How can I tell if my VILT is still valid for an EMC Proven Professional Certification Exam?

The easiest way to tell if your VILT is still valid, is by checking the "Date Stamp" on any of the disks, then reference the table below to verify that the exam you will be attempting is still supported by your VILT. Note: Some titles do not align to certification exams, so they will not be displayed below.

If you know which offering you are looking for, please Log-in, and use the Search Catalog feature at the top right of each page on this Website. The Search tool browses course title and description for matching phrases.

If you are unsure of the type of training you need, visit our Learning Path or Certification pages to narrow your options.

How do I view the course schedule?

When you use the Search Catalog feature, the full schedule is returned with class dates and locations noted.

How do I view a course description?

Use the Search Catalog feature to find the training you need. From the search results page, click on the course title. This will bring you to the course detail page. Click on the ‘Course Description’ link under ‘Attachments’ to view the detailed course description.

How do I know how much a course costs?

When you use the Search Catalog tool to find training, the price for each item is displayed (in US dollars.)

How do I purchase/register for EMC training?

There are two ways to purchase and register for EMC training. You may self-serve through this Website and pay for training by credit card or with existing Training Units. Alternatively, you can contact your EMC sales representative or EMC Education to purchase Training Units, ValuePaks and Subscriptions by PO or credit card.

Once you have purchased and activated your training, you can register by finding the appropriate training on this site and using the Register button to complete the transaction.

What is a Training Unit?

A Training Unit is EMC education currency, which can be purchased through your EMC sales representative and made available for general consumption by your business.

How do I know how many Training Units my company has available?

From any page on this Website, click on MyLearning in the top left. (You will be prompted to login if you haven't already.) On the resulting page, you will see the 'Training Balance Information' window, which lists your company name and the number of Training Units available.

How do I register for training using my company Training Units?

Registration is easy. Once you find the training you are looking for, click the Register link on the Search results table. This will place the training item in your shopping cart. You can either Continue Shopping or MyLearning the order and begin processing the registration. Select 'Training Units' from the 'Payment Type' dropdown and click on Place Order. The specified number of Training Units will be deducted from your company's Training Unit balance.

What is a Training Subscription?

A training subscription gives a student access to purchase any scheduled training courses for one full year, plus up to three Video Instructor-Led Training courses. EMC also offers an extended two-year subscription, as well as an e-Subscription that covers all EMC e-Learning. Learn more.

How do I activate my training Subscription?

If you have your Training Activation Code (SO number) and EMC model code, click on MyLearning and enter the appropriate information in the 'Pre-Purchased Training Activation' window. If you have not received a Training Activation Kit, please check with your company Training Contact or contact EMC Education Services for assistance.

How do I register for training using my Training Subscription?

Once you have activated your training subscription (see above), registration is easy. Once you have activated your training subscription, you can browse for any scheduled training and up to three VILTs. When you locate a course of interest, click the Register link on the Search results table. This will place the training item in your shopping cart. You can either Continue Shopping or Confirm the order and begin processing the registration. You will not be prompted for a payment type as your training subscription will cover the registration.

How do I launch an eLearning title I am registered for?

Go to 'MyEnrollments' and find the e-Learning title you wish to launch. Under the Action column, click on Launch. This will launch the e-Learning title.

What languages are courses taught in?

Most instructor-led classes are taught in English. In certain geographies, some ILT classes are taught in local language. These include (but are not limited to) Spanish, French, German, Italian, Dutch, Russian, Portuguese, Japanese, Korean, and Chinese. How do I find Practice Exams?

There are two ways to find a practice exam:
1) For a list of all practice exams, go to Certification > Certification Resources > Practice Exams.
2) If you are looking practice exams and other information on a particular track and/or specialty, you can navigate to the map for that certification by visiting the Certification tab, clicking on the appropriate track, then clicking on the appropriate specialty on the graphic.

What is the difference between Accreditation and Certification?

Certification develops and validates technical skills through proctored exams in tracks such as Storage Technologist, Storage Administrator, Technology Architect, Customer Engineer and Implementation Engineer, as well as Product/Technology Specific areas.
